Unique and Diverse
Our excursions ensure that students have a unique educational experience, learning about ancient indigenous cultures while travelling through the diverse landscape of the Northern Territory's Red Centre.
Our Story
For over 25 years, Reg Ramsden has cultivated deep, personal relationships with the Lilla community and surrounding groups in the Watarrka National Park region. Recognizing the transformative power of these connections, Reg founded Remote Tours with a specific vision: to bridge the gap between interstate students and Indigenous custodians, fostering intergenerational learning and mutual respect.
Unlike standard sightseeing, our excursions are designed for immersion, not just observation. We facilitate direct, personal interactions where students engage with Traditional Owners to learn culture and history, on Country. From guided walks through sacred sites to traditional art workshops and community sports, every activity is crafted to be both educational and interesting.
We are honoured to be trusted by the Traditional Land Owners to facilitate these unique journeys, that creating lasting memories for all our visitors.
Why
We create educational, culturally aware and memorable experiences through local knowledge, community relationships and thoughtful tour design.
Our excursions ensure that students have a unique educational experience, learning about ancient indigenous cultures while travelling through the diverse landscape of the Northern Territory's Red Centre.
We offer the opportunity to experience Central Australia in a unique way with a blend of challenging, educational, thoughtful and fun activities.
Our guides are highly experienced and reputable employees who share our passion and vision to educate students about Aboriginal culture. Our guides aren't just imparting academic knowledge, but also real life knowledge they themselves have learned as locals.
We believe every Australian child should visit the red centre, in the heart of their own backyard. From years of experience running school camps, we can develop a program knowing what works best for the group and the places you will visit.
Rather than rushing from one site to another we aim to allow students to absorb the meaning and significance of each experience. We only provide guides who can pace the group appropriately for their needs, can engage effectively with school age children, are UKTNP accredited and have working with children's checks.
A lot of attention is given to food and providing quality meals. We don't skimp or food quality just because you are camping. All our food is fresh and mostly comes from the supermarket like you would buy for your own home meals.
